An Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for drug addicts and alcoholics is being run by the Trust at Dharmapuri, to treat 15 patients at a time. This needy project is funded by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi. These patients are treated for a month, initially for a week of detoxification, followed by 3 weeks of intensive treatment - comprising prescribed medicines, proper diet, yoga and physical exercises, video shows and lectures by doctors highlighting the damage done to internal organs, and finally individual and group counselling. Most of the patients generally are cured by such a systematic treatment, and after discharge they tend to lead a normal life. The follow up home visits from our social workers ensure that there are no relapses, they take the medicines given even at home, go to work and do not resort to their routine work. During the reporting year, our IRCA has admitted during the year 173 cases of addiction to alcohol. There were 930 individual counselling sessions and 211 group counselling and 578 family counselling sessions. >
